our neighbour is rising

BEIJING - China revised the size of its economy by 16.8 per cent yesterday - a move economists say makes it the fourth-largest economy in the world.

The National Bureau of Statistics, in its first nationwide economic census, said estimated gross domestic product in 2004 totalled 15.99 trillion yuan ($2.88 trillion), an increase of 2.3 trillion yuan or 16.8 per cent. Previously it had put GDP at 13.65 trillion yuan.

The revision was largely the result of better collection of data for the services sector and small enterprises, whose activity has been under-reported until now.

The bureau said the tertiary, or services, sector accounted for 93 per cent of the revision and now made up 40.7 per cent of the economy instead of 31.9 per cent previously.

The share of the secondary, or industry, sector in GDP fell to 46.2 per cent from 52.9 per cent and that of the primary, or agricultural, sector, to 13.1 per cent from 15.2 per cent.

According to World Bank rankings, this GDP would have lifted China above Italy into sixth place in the world economic rankings.

But based on exchange rate trends and relative growth rates in 2005, economists calculate that China by now has risen to fourth place, ahead of France and Britain, and is now dwarfed only by the United States, Japan and Germany.

Nearly 10 million census-takers fanned out across China to get a comprehensive picture of the economy and found millions of companies previously unaccounted for, with combined output valued at about $414 billion in 2004.

The census, which would add the equivalent of Austria's annual output to the world's fastest-growing big economy"may add to US and European efforts to convince China to let its currency appreciate.

"The fact that China will come out of this as presumably a much richer country will certainly invoke more political pressure" to let the currency gain, said Jim Walker, chief economist at CLSA Emerging Markets in Hong Kong.

By revising up estimates of national wealth, China would open itself to the argument that its economy could handle a more freely traded currency, economists said.

Unearthing wealth

* The economic census is the country's first.

* Nearly 10 million census-takers were involved.

* They found millions of companies previously unaccounted for.

* Those companies had a combined output of about $414 billion in 2004.

Unchanging habit

I received a mailed titled.. 11:11. The message is given below

11:11 pm

This morning when the Lord opened a window to Heaven, He saw me, and He
asked: "My child, what is your greatest wish for today?" I responded:
"Lord please, take care of the person who is reading this message,
their
family and their special friends. They deserve it and I love them very
much"The love of God is like
the ocean, you can see its beginning, but not its end.

This message works on the day you receive it. Let us see if it is true.
ANGELS EXIST but some times, since they don't all have wings, we call
them
FRIENDS.

Pass this on to your friends. Something good will happen to you at
11:11 in
the evening; something that you have been waiting to hear.

Do not break this prayer; send it to a minimum of 5 people

Still people beleive these kind of superstitious. Earlier in paper age, they used to give some bit-notices that said something like the above one..
Now, they are using emails to spread these kind of activities..

when they are going to stop all these non-sense ?

Unforgetable week

Last week was one of the unforgetable week for me.

Things happened were nothing gud for me. It was started like usual sunday on Nov 6. When i wake up in morning, came to know that my throat is getting infected. I didnt take is seriously. Since it was heavy rainy, i didnt go anywhere. So, i started to clean my room with sister. My throat infection is increased with respect of time. I felt uncomfortable at 12.30 pm. Fever also started. Went to bed. Fever and cold is getting increased. Power was also down at that time. Went to Dr. Veerappan, muthiliarpet with my relative help. Took injection and tablet. Mother adviced not to go for office tomorrow. Replied, lets see it tomorrow.

Wakeup at 3 am on next day ( Monday ). fever is reduced, but the killer throat pain is still continious. Cold started with running nose. Any way i planned to come chennai for work.
While come to pondy busstand, i lost my crip bandage lock.

Next day, tuesday night i went for citibank ATM. I found my card is not detected. I tried many times. Finally i came to know One of my debt card is locked and otherone has some error in memory strip. Killer throat pain and cold still continious. fever subsided.

Next day, wednesday, when i tried to catch bus, my Mobile LCD display was broken. This was a great shock for me. How this display broken?. now a days, i usually put my mobile in my leftside pant pocket.Since my right hand not fully recovered from wrist bone crack. When i tried to get in the bus. The helping handle in bus stricks directly to my mobile display. Next second, my nokia 3120 display lost its life.

friday i changed my display, fever was completly over and throat pain is reduced lot.

Rain in Chennai

People in chennai are expecting rain to solve water problem.
But what happening, if it come...
- Improper infrastructure in the city to store rain water
- Improper roads ( we can see small ponds in all the roads )
- Un stable power supply to survive even in rainy season.
- Traffic jam etc, etc

These are all happened yesterday. It was continious rainy in chennai from 26th oct 4pm to 27th oct 10pm. Chennai experienced 42 cm of rain in 40 hours between Wednesday and midnight last. Most of the roads are Waterlogged.

Goverment need to take this as serious issue. First they need to make a clear sketch for chennai roads. Why the roads are like this?. Improper planning in the goverment. Improper maintanence. Contractors are not doing their work correctly. I dont want to blame the contractors alone. Thinking about Anniyan. Kinda same story happening daily.

Atleast we should follow some things like..
- forming queue in railway station, bus stop, theaters.
- obeying traffice rules.
- stoping nonsense in public place etc

I am following these things now, what about u...? Think..

Sauna Bath

Yesterday i met my friend panneer selvam in his room. He prepared to go for Health Club( his weight is 102 kg ). I also joined with him. We went to L I V in akasaka. He was already member there. LIV is in 23 rd building near KBS Telivision Tower. Really nice place. They have all the facilities ( all type of machineries , aerobic, swimming pool ... ) in that place. I joined for trial member ( one day permit ). Exprimented some machines and had bath in swimming pool. Really enjoyed much in that pool. That stimulated swimming intrest in my mind.

I also had sauna bath there. Its a kind of hydrotherapy. One of the Steam bath type.

Just a small info about that :-

Saunas: the heat acts more quickly to eliminate toxins through the skin, though some consider the moist air of a steam bath to have a more satisfying effect on the respiratory system. Saunas are deeply relaxing and are a great way to melt away stress.

A sauna is an eliminative procedure; it stimulates blood flow, increases the heart rate, has an immune-modulating effect, promotes hormone production, encourages mucosal secretions in the respiratory system, opens the airways, reduces resistance to respiration, regulates the vegetative system, relaxes, and can improve mental outlook. Children can start to take saunas
at two or three years of age.

Indications: For "toning-up," for health promotion, as a way of treating pain caused by pulled back muscles, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, bronchial asthma, unstable hypertension (stages I and 11), severely disturbed peripheral blood circulation.

Warnings: Saunas should not be taken by persons with acute rheumatoid arthritis, acute infection, active tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases, acute mental disorder, inflammation of an inner organ or blood vessels, significant vascular changes in the brain or heart, circulatory problems or acute cancer.
Do not spend more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time in a sauna. Wipe your face frequently with a cold cloth to avoid overheating.

If u have chance, dont miss to take bath like this. Frequent bath like this is very gud for ur health

Bombay Dreams’ coming to India!

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical ‘Bombay Dreams’ could soon come to the city that inspired it.Ironic as it may sound, but the play that captures the essence of Hindi films, their stereotypes and their gaudy glamour, is now likely to come to India after a rather disappointing run at New York’s Broadway where it wasn’t able to breakeven its investment of $14 million.

Bombay Dreams’ had a dream run at London’s West End where it played for about two years (from June 2002 to 2004). For the American version of the musical, certain changes were made in the cast and the script as well. But now that plans are afoot to bring the show to India, the question is – Will it appeal to the audience that have already been so much exposed to this genre?Kerry Comerford, general manager of Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Company in the Asia Pacific, has the answer: “It will require some re-visiting, as audiences here are exposed to this type of fare, so we have to see if they'll want to see it live.”According to Comerford, there has been a lot of interest from India, Singapore, Malaysia, China and South Korea.“So we are here to identify possible venues and sponsors,” he said in a news conference. It would cost $7 million to take the play to India and a new cast will be found for the Indian production.

The music will have the best of both Broadway and West End.‘Bombay Dreams’ tells the story of a slum dweller who dreams of becoming a Bollywood movie star and falls in love with the daughter of a film director. The story was written by British writer Meera Syal. The play has music by A R Rahman and choreography by Farah Khan .
